Why We Fundraise
We fundraise not only for the purpose of generating revenue, but also the intent of providing character building and learning opportunities for students as well as enriching the entire school community.
How We Fundraise
Fundraising at AVPS is mainly lead by School Council (AVPS School Council is parent run). The School collects the voluntary school fees and organizes charity fund raisers. Together, School Council and the School co-ordinate fundraising activities, adhering to guidelines set by the Ministry of Education.
Fundraisers are divided into four categories:
1. Services to Families: Pizza, Milk, Book Fair
2. Community Building: BBQ, Movie Nights, Spring Fair, Spirit Wear
3. Direct Fundraising: Voluntary Student Fees
4. Charity Fundraising (local and international): Terry Fox Run, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Change for CHEO, Toonie Tuesday
How Money Raised Is Spent
In addition to fundraising for local and global charities, School Council funds many “extras” for students and staff during the school year. Some of these expenditures are short-term (e.g., dance program, subsidies for field trips, performance, etc.) and other are long-term (replacement of play structures, yard revitalization, library revitalization, technology in the classroom, sports equipment, extra reading materials for the library/classrooms, musical instruments, etc.).
