Purdy’s chocolate fundraiser – order until November 26

School Council is launching its Purdy’s seasonal chocolate fundraiser to support our AVPS students!

Stock up on your favourite Purdy’s Christmas treats* from the catalogue, by

  • Going to our fundraising website
  • Providing your information
  • Clicking “Join Campaign”
  • Entering our campaign number: 78707 (in our experience, this step may not be necessary)

Note: you may need to visit another menu on the page to prepare and submit your order (in Chrome this was at the top right-hand corner of the page).

There are two ways to order online:

  1. Marketplace – This is the easiest way to navigate our online shopping site, a product listing page that has pictures and descriptions of the available treats.
  2. Online Order Form – It allows you to view all products on a single page and enter multiple orders efficiently. If you are placing bulk orders, this may be for you.

Share with friends and family, and submit your order by November 26 for pick up in mid-December (those details to follow).

Family Movie Night – Monsters Inc.

Alta Vista School Council is pleased to invite your family to our next Family Movie Night on Friday, October 25, 2024.

We’ll be showing Monsters Inc., rated PG (1 hour 32 minutes). Doors and concession open at 5:30 pm, and the movie starts at 6 pm!

Admission is free! There will be hotdogs, goodies, and juice boxes for sale as a council fundraiser towards Athletic Council initiatives.

In order to keep this event as eco-friendly as we can, we’re encouraging families to bring their own reusable dish ware for their movie night food and snacks. Families are encouraged to bring cups or water bottles that can be refilled in the kitchen.

Children are welcome to wear their PJs and bring blankets, pillows and stuffies to get comfy in the gym. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers needed!

As always, the movie night organizers are grateful for the support of parent volunteers to help make movie night events a success. To sign up, please contact Dean Blachford.

Please consider bringing nut-free baked goods (homemade or store bought) for the concession by dropping them off at the office on the day of or bringing them to the movie night.

School Council Meeting – October 16

Snow Out Blow Out – October 19

Get ready to declutter your garage and get ready for winter!

On Saturday, October 19, 2024:

  • between 9:30 am – 11:30 am, bring in your winter sports equipment that you want to sell. Please make sure everything is clean and in good/safe working condition, and name your selling price.
    • We will gratefully accept the following items: Skates, Skating helpers, Skis, Ski boots, Ski bags, Snowboards, Snowboard boots, Snowboard bags, Hockey equipment, Hockey bags, Sleds, Snowshoes, Winter jackets, Snowsuits, Gloves/Mitts, Winter boots
    • We will not accept helmets.
  • between 12:00 – 2:00 pm, the cash-only, first-come, first-served Snow Out Blow Out will take place at AVPS. No items will be put on hold.
  • between 2:15 – 2:30 pm, If you brought in items to sell, please come to the school. If your item is sold, you will receive 70% of the sale price, and the remaining 30% will go to School Council to enrich the learning experience of all AVPS students. If your item did not sell, you must retrieve it. We cannot keep items for later pick-up and need to clear the gym.

Volunteer!

It’s your assistance that makes these events possible and we appreciate it. It is also a great way for high school students to get volunteer hours!
