Two important consultations you do not want to miss!

Dear Alta Vista Parent, 

We wanted to write to you about the upcoming opportunities you have in the next few weeks to give important feedback to both the Ontario Government and to Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. 


OCDSB – Building Brighter Futures Together 2019-2023

Input in the OCDSB strategic plan.   Nov. 21st – Dec 12th.


Provincial Consultation: Education in Ontario – Deadline for input is Dec. 15th

    • What is government asking consultation on? 

They are asking for opinion on 7 topics below: 

      1. Improving student performance in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)
      2. Preparing students with needed job skills, such as skilled trades and coding
      3. Improving provincial standardized testing
      4. Ensuring students graduate with important life skills, including financial literacy
      5. Managing the use of technology in classrooms, such as cell phones
      6. Building a new age-appropriate Health and Physical Education curriculum that includes subjects like mental health, sexual health education and the legalization of cannabis
      7. Developing the first-ever Parents’ Bill of Rights

  1. Posting all the information you will need to help you answer the three questions though ThoughtExchange on our website as well as send email to you with important links and information.
  1. Hosting two discussion nights at the school.   Nov. 29th and Dec.6th  6:00 – 9:00 pm
    1. Will review the current strategic plan,  discuss what may of importance for the next plan.
    2. Discuss each of the 7 topic areas to give you ideas of what is important for you.
