This school year, School Council funded almost $13,000 in teacher requests. Despite COVID-related challenges, we raised $1,300 through Mabel’s Labels, Plantables.ca and the citrus fundraiser – thank you for your support.
Looking ahead, we would be grateful if you would make a voluntary donation from June 6-16 to School Council, so that we may continue to support learning enhancements next year and beyond.
From September 2021 to May 2022, we funded such requests as:
- New in-room toys to share among the five Kindergarten classrooms;
- Junior Scientists in Schools virtual program for Grades 4-6;
- More up-to-date and diverse books for the school library;
- Rocks and Rings curling workshops for Grades 1-8 Phys. Ed. classes;
- School-wide recognition tokens for Black History Month, Marvellous Math Moments and Asian and Pacific Islander History Month;
- Skating helmets for use during Phys. Ed. at the neighbouring outdoor rink;
- Presentations by an Indigenous speaker and a Holocaust survivor for Grades 6-8;
- Supplies for science workshops, such as pulleys and gears;
- Seeds for Grade 3 students and lumber for Grade 8 students to create garden beds;
- Luv 2 Groove dance workshops for all Grade 3-6 students; and
- An outdoor speaker for the Phys. Ed. department to inspire outdoor activities, such as Marathon Month.
The extra funding from School Council means AVPS students benefit from specialized workshops, enriched learning opportunities and an enhanced sense of community.
Donating couldn’t be easier – simply click here from June 6-16, and you’ll be taken to Sagoto Solutions, our online donation partner.
Thank you for your support.
