Dear Parents,
Attached is information on the plan of the Ottawa Student Transit Authority (OSTA) to make bell times fifteen minutes later at Alta Vista Public School beginning in September 2015 (i.e. school days would be 9:15-3:45 instead of 9:00-3:30 as they are currently).
OSTA is currently gathering responses from members of school communities who either agree with or disagree with the appropriateness of the changes they are proposing, which are designed to make the coordination of school buses more efficient. OSTA is running an online survey in which parents may explain why and how they might be inconvenienced by proposed changes. The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OSTAsurvey
OSTA is also holding an open consultation evening on Wednesday, April 2nd from 7-9 p.m. at Brookfield High School (824 Brookfield Road) to consult parents on their thoughts about these changes.
Alta Vista School Council strongly recommends that parents who will be inconvenienced by these changes to the bell times at Alta Vista Public School fill out the survey and, if possible, attend the consultation. We have received indication that OSTA may respond attentively to a high volume of responses from the school community.
