Gifts of Giving 2024

This AVPS community fundraiser gives students a chance to find affordable gifts for their loved ones and it’s the perfect opportunity for you to clear out some clutter or regift some special items!

On December 13, students will be invited to our pop-up store in the gym to choose one or two special gifts that our wonderful volunteers will then wrap! Every gift will cost just $2. All proceeds will be directed toward School Council outreach initiatives.

Toonie, loonie, and cash donations will be collected by teachers in the classrooms during the week of the event. (Donations of 2$ per gift are requested, but not required).

Donations Needed!

We will gratefully accept items in gently used or new condition — toys, trinkets, household and decorative items, costume jewellery, games, accessories, etc. Any item that could be a nice gift for a loved one of any age is appreciated! (No clothing, books, DVDs, or very heavy, or breakable items, please).

Gift bags and tissue paper donations are especially needed to keep special gifts a surprise!

Items can be placed in the donation box in the school lobby until December 10.

Volunteers Needed!

To make this event a success, we need helpers in the afternoon on December 12 (set up) and during the day on December 13 (wrapping, assisting, and clean-up).

Please sign up here to help.

Family Movie Night – Luca

Alta Vista School Council is pleased to invite your family to our next Family Movie Night on Friday, November 22, 2024.

We’ll be showing Luna, rated PG (1 hour 35 minutes). Doors and concession open at 5:30 pm, and the movie starts at 6 pm!

Admission is free! There will be hotdogs, goodies, and juice boxes for sale as a council fundraiser towards Kindergarten initiatives.

In order to keep this event as eco-friendly as we can, we’re encouraging families to bring their own reusable dish ware for their movie night food and snacks. Families are encouraged to bring cups or water bottles that can be refilled in the kitchen.

Children are welcome to wear their PJs and bring blankets, pillows and stuffies to get comfy in the gym. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers needed!

As always, the movie night organizers are grateful for the support of parent volunteers to help make movie night events a success. To sign up, please contact Dean Blachford.

Please consider bringing nut-free baked goods (homemade or store bought) for the concession by dropping them off at the office on the day of or bringing them to the movie night.

Questions?

Please contact Dean Blachford.

We hope to see you and your family there!
