Family Movie Night – Oddball

Alta Vista School Council is pleased to invite your family to our next Family Movie Night on Friday, February 24, 2023!

We’ll be showing Oddball, rated PG (1 hour 35 minutes). Doors and concession open at 5:30 pm, and the movie starts at 6 pm!

Admission is free! There will be hotdogs, goodies, and juice boxes for sale as a council fundraiser towards AVPS initiatives.

In order to keep this event as eco-friendly as we can, we’re encouraging families to bring their own reusable dishware for their movie night food and snacks. Families are encouraged to bring cups or water bottles that can be refilled in the kitchen: there will be none for sale.

Children are welcome to wear their PJs and bring blankets, pillows and stuffies to get comfy in the gym. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers needed!

As always, the movie night organizers are grateful for the support of parent volunteers to help make movie night events a success. Please sign up here, or contact Dean Blachford.

Please consider bringing nut-free baked goods (homemade or store bought) for the concession by dropping them off at the office on the day of or bringing them to the movie night.

Questions? Please contact Dean Blachford.

We hope to see you and your family there!

Submit your orders for Pizza and Subway Days before February 17!

The time has arrived to re-open the ordering for Subway and pizza programs for the remainder of the school year.  These programs are great ways to support the fundraising efforts of the Alta Vista School Council in order to enrich the environment for all students at AVPS. These fundraising lunch programs are available to all students at AVPS, from Kindergarten to grade 8.

Subway Friday

The last Subway day for the current session is Friday, February 24. The next session will run every Friday, except holidays and PA days, from March 3rd to June 23rd (14 Fridays).

Six-inch turkey, ham or veggie sandwiches are prepared on whole-grain bread and can include cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, mustard and/or mayonnaise. Each sandwich is $6 and the 14-week session costs $84.  Since sandwiches are customized, they must be ordered during the ordering period, and will not be available to purchase for cash individually.

Contact Ana at avscsubs@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer, or for any questions related to Subway Fridays.

Pizza Mondays

The last day of delivery for the current pizza program is February 13.  The new session will run every Monday that school is open, from Monday Feb 27th to Monday June 26th (a total of 15 Mondays).

You can choose between plain cheese pizza, pepperoni, veggie (green peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes), or gluten-smart with plant-based cheese, and select 1 or 2 slices per child.  The cost remains the same at $2.50 per slice, therefore the 15 week program has a total cost of $37.50 per slice.  The slices ordered will be delivered to your student’s homeroom class for first lunch, at 11:10am.

If you do not sign up for this program by February 17th, then students in grade 1-8 still have the option to pay $2.50 cash at the school kitchen to buy a slice any Monday. This cash for a slice program is unfortunately not available to Kindergarten students.

Contact Caryn at avscpizza@gmail.com to volunteer on a pizza Monday, or to ask any pizza related questions.

The deadline to order pizza or Subway before Friday, February 17, 2023.  Don’t miss it! Place your order through School Cash Online.
