We have teamed up with Little Caesars Pizza to bring you pizza kits at home. Each pizza kit comes with 3 large pizzas and toppings for a dinner ready in 10 minutes! School Council will receive $6 from every kit sold to support enrichment initiatives for the students, special requests for the classrooms, and special projects for the school.

Ordering closes on October 30, 2022 and is as easy as scanning the QR Code  on this page, or, you can

  1. Go to www.Pizzakit.ca
      • Click on ‘Products’, then Click on ‘Shop’
      • Select Ship my Order to the Group
      • Enter Fundraiser ID # 415788
      • Confirm it is for Alta Vista Public School
      • Follow the prompts for an existing customer or sign up as a new customer
  2. On your laptop/computer go to the fundraiser’s sign in page. From there you can shop, order, and pay online.

Kits ordered during this campaign will be delivered to Alta Vista PS on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at a time to be confirmed.

Orders for Pizza and Subway Days extended until noon October 7

The school council organizes weekly pizza delivery and weekly Subway delivery, available to all students at AVPS.  These programs are a great opportunity for a change from your usual packed lunches, and are also a fundraiser for the School Council. The money raised by the school council is spent on enrichment initiatives for the students, special requests for the classrooms, and special projects for the school.

Pizza Mondays

We are currently taking orders for the period from October 17, 2022 – February 13, 2023.  Pizza will be delivered every Monday that the school is open during this time, a total of 16 Mondays. Pizza is coming from Panago Pizza, known for its fresh and delicious ingredients, and will be served on their great multigrain crust again this year, in alignment with the OCDSB Food and Beverage Policy guidelines. This year they are offering larger size pizzas for the first time, so everyone can enjoy a big, yummy slice or two.

When you sign your child up, you will have the choice between plain cheese pizza, pepperoni and cheese, veggie pizza (green peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes), or Gluten-Smart pizza with plant-based cheese. Pizza is $2.50 per slice per week, so when you sign up for the program (16 weeks) the total cost will be $40 per slice.  The pizza will be delivered every Monday to your student’s classroom for their first lunch break, at 11:10am. Left over slices will also be available for cash purchase at the school kitchen, available to any student in Grade 1-8 (but the cash purchase option is not available to Kindergarten students).

Are you willing to volunteer to help sort and distribute pizza? We need volunteers to make this program a success, plus volunteers have the opportunity to be in the school and maybe see your precious child’s smiling face!  Contact Caryn at avscpizza@gmail.com to volunteer, or to ask any pizza related questions.

Subway Fridays

Six-inch Subway sandwiches will be delivered to the school on Fridays that the school is open from October 14, 2022 – February 10, 2023, a total of 13 Fridays. The students will receive their sandwiches in their classrooms during the first nutrition break. Turkey, ham or veggie subs are prepared on whole-grain bread and can include cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, mustard and mayonnaise (or no toppings for the particular palates)! Each sandwich is $6, and the 13-week session costs $78.

Since sandwiches are customized, they must be ordered during the ordering period and will not be available to purchase for cash individually.

Spirit wear is back until October 24!

Show that AVPS spirit with Alta Vista Public School Spirit Wear!

Submit your order online until October 24, 2022*, and the items purchased will be delivered to your child in class. We will also be set up at the Welcome Back BBQ on Thursday September 29, 2022 with limited sizes and items for purchase, but orders can be placed here with cash or cheque.

  • If for some reason you don’t want it to be delivered to the child, we will make time to pick it up once we receive the oder.
  • We recommend from past years that you go up at least a size. If you want the item to be loose, or that they can grow into it, go up 2 sizes. A little bit big will last them for more years to come at AVPS!

Last year we were able to keep over 20 kids’ heads warm and show that AV Spirit at the same time! Again this year, you can choose the option in the online order form to help our school community by purchasing a toque to donate to a child in our school. Your donation is a great way to keep some little heads warm, and show school spirit!

Welcome Back BBQ

You are invited to Alta Vista Public School’s Welcome Back BBQ, on Thursday, September 29th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, in the Primary Play Yard: Rain or Shine!Sign up here for a volunteer shift!

Meet the teacher – 4:00 – 5:00 pm

A great chance to see your child’s classroom; meet teachers, staff and other families.  Teachers will be sending home more information for each individual class.

BBQ – 4:30 – 6:00 pm

Enjoy BBQ hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks for sale. Tickets for food and drinks will be sold at the BBQ. Please be sure to bring correct change for purchasing items.

Please RSVP using this link with your food preferences – The information from this survey will be used to help us plan for the event.

BBQ delicious food catered by local restaurant HOMETOWN:

Dress for the weather!  We will have some seating but you are welcome to bring blankets and chairs to the BBQ as well. Paper plates and napkins will be available, but to help reduce food waste, you may bring your own water bottle and plate from home. Water bottles may be filled in the school.

Please note that there is no official supervision of your children after school hours. Please ensure children are supervised as needed.

While you’re at the BBQ:

  • Get set for the new school year and show your Alta Vista pride with cozy zip hoodies and sweatpants.  Sample Spirit Wear will be available to view and order at the BBQ, with delivery ready by November. Get a preview here!
  • Clean out the basement of your winter gear: you can drop off items for the Snow Out Blow Out. The sale/drop off will be at the small gym entrance across from the Tennis courts. 

Volunteer!  

It’s your assistance that makes these events possible and we appreciate it! It is also a great way for High School students to get Volunteer Hours!

Please consider signing up for a 1-hour shift to help make the BBQ a success. We are looking for volunteers to set-up, sell tickets, serve food, and clean-up.

We are also looking for volunteers to help collect items for the Snow Out Blow Out Sale during the BBQ as well as selling items on Saturday, October 1st.
