New this year: NOW YOU CAN ORDER COOKIE DOUGH (i.e.: Gluten-Free Chocolate Chunk cookie dough; Nut-Free options & many more yummy dough varieties that keep 6 months in the freezer), ETC & STILL HELP OUR SCHOOL BY CLICKING ON THE QSP PRODUCTS MENU ONLINE at WWW.QSP.CA using OUR GROUP’s ID: 3727773

See below cookie dough ingredients & flyer as some have asked for it.

Please note:  All cookie dough orders will be delivered to the school on Wednesday, November 16th and available for you to pick them up between 4-7 pm at the school.  All magazines will be delivered to your home as usual.

Return online (preferable option) or paper order before Monday, October 31, 2016.

**Cheques are made payable to Alta Vista School Council**

Money raised will go towards enhancing your child’s school experience (i.e.:  music program, sports equipment, technology in the classroom, school yard improvements, etc.), and every child will benefit from the money raised.

UPDATE: School Council Meeting

SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE
A great meeting on Wednesday night thanks to those who were able to attend.
Official minutes will be sent out before next meeting thanks to our wonderful Secretary Janine Cocker.
Until then… here are a just few updates:

Council News:

Events:
  • First movie night will be Friday Oct. 28th. Volunteers and baking welcome!
  • Annual Scholastic/Osborne Book Fair Nov. 16 though to 18th.
News:
  • Working on annual reports required by Board
  • AVPS School Council financials were selected to undergo Board audit for last year. Meghan Leah, Treasurer, is working with Board to provide all documentation necessary. We have a very good system in place and all is anticipated go smoothly.
  • VOLUNTEERS positions still available:  Contact us if you are interested at altavistasc@gmail.com 
  • Looking for Volunteer Coordinator who will help keep list of parents who are interested in volunteering to allow better use of time.   Currently each event call out for volunteers and we have a lot of the same people volunteering.  We are looking for someone to help organize this list. 
  • Spirit Wear Coordinator: We currently have lots of AVPS swag to take care of.   Would involve helping us clear out the older stock by selling at events or looking for creative ways to distribute maybe even donate.  Then look at ordering new items.

Principal’s Report

Progress reports
  • Will be issued Nov. 10th. Covers Sept 6 to Oct. 28th. There will be new online scheduling for interviews.
School Learning Plan
  • He updated us on school’s learning plan which has focus on mathematics and wellbeing. All math leads, which include Mrs. Bell., Mr. Ellis and Mdme Gidson will be attending workshops aimed at learning the revised math strategy brought forth by the board. They will bring this back to all teachers at AVPS Also a draft version of the school Safe and Acceptance Plan was distributed and parent representation for this plan was requested.
Grade 6 trip
  • Teachers have come forward and there will be a grade 6 Camping Trip this year.
School Club List
  • We will be receiving a list of all the clubs that are running at AVPS.  We will post on website as soon as we get the list.
