Alta Vista School Council

2 of our 3 play structures are nearing the end of their 25 year lifetimes. Replacing these structures would be an extensive, multi-year project, representing a possible $100,000 to
$150,000 investment by School Council and the school community. Last June we launched a survey to solicit parent views on a possible schoolyard revitalization project, to help us assess the scope of what we should undertake. If you haven’t already, please go tohttp://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HB96WLC to complete the survey. Results will be posted in the coming weeks.

A Cycling Safety for Kids course will be delivered by the City of Ottawa in the Alta Vista Public School parking lot on Saturday, June 15th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.  The course is aimed at kids, 9 to 13 years of age, who can already ride a bike.  The course teaches essential bicycle handling and traffic skills for young cyclists.  Topics include: helmet fittings, bicycle maintenance, handling, signaling, gears, braking, avoiding road hazards and more.  Participants must know how to ride.

Cost is  $45 for 4 hours

The Barcode for the kids safe cycling session on June 15th at Alta Vista Public School is : 873538Une sécurité à vélo pour les cours pour enfants sera livré par la Ville d’Ottawa dans le Alta Vista Public School parking le samedi 15 Juin 01 heures 00-17h00. Le cours est destiné aux enfants de 9 à 13 ans, qui peuvent déjà faire du vélo. Le cours enseigne maniement du vélo et les compétences essentielles de la circulation pour les jeunes cyclistes. Les sujets traités comprennent: raccords de casque, l’entretien du vélo, de la manutention, de signalisation, rapports, du freinage, en évitant les dangers de la route et plus encore. Les participants doivent savoir monter.

Le coût est de 45 $ pendant 4 heures

Council is contemplating undertaking a schoolyard revitalization project. This could be an extensive, multi-year project and would represent a significant investment by School Council and the school community. We anticipate that the total cost of such a project at Alta Vista could be in the $100,000 – $150,000 range.
