Alta Vista School Council

OSTA is currently gathering responses from members of school communities who either agree with or disagree with the appropriateness of the changes they are proposing, which are designed to make the coordination of school buses more efficient. OSTA is running an online survey in which parents may explain why and how they might be inconvenienced by proposed changes. The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OSTAsurvey

OSTA is also holding an open consultation evening on Wednesday, April 2nd from 7-9 p.m. at Brookfield High School  (824 Brookfield Road) to consult parents on their thoughts about these changes.

Alta Vista School Council strongly recommends that parents who will be inconvenienced by these changes to the bell times at Alta Vista Public School fill out the survey and, if possible, attend the consultation. We have received indication that OSTA may respond attentively to a high volume of responses from the school community.

We are still accepting donations in support of the kindergarten playground structure. We remain about $9000 short of our goal, but are very confident that we will meet that goal.

Although not a council event, an AVPS parent has shared the following information on KidyKode workshops, starting March 22^nd, 2014 at Rideau High School. These are free workshops teaching kids computational thinking concepts using the popular visual programming language Scratch.  More details are available here: http://www.kidykode.ca/  You must pre-register!

Due to the cold weather, the Council Bottle Drive scheduled for March 22^nd will be cancelled and moved to a warmer date. More details to follow. If your garage is brimming with bottles and you want to get rid of them now, we can pick them up and take them away, just send us an email at altavistasc@gmail.com.
