Alta Vista School Council

This year’s book fair is coming up Nov. 21^st -23^rd with a fun theme of ENHANTED FOREST .

We thought this is a great opportunity to have some fun together and make the event even more special.  So, we are hosting a Decorating Party!

Thursday Nov. 8^th from 6:00 – 8:00 join us in the Library for some creative fun!  This is a drop in, stay as long as you like evening.

Here’s what we will be making:

1. Welcome banner
2. Classroom wish list board
3. Welcome to the Fair – Giant Gnome
4. Artwork that you can take home or donate to help decoration the gym
5. Fun photobooth props

Please let us know if you can make it – email Nancy Dean at thedeans@sympatico.ca . You can also just come by on next Thursday anytime!

Who can come: All family members – We want AV families to have fun together and meet other AV families as well.   High school students can gain volunteer hours, Students grade 6-8 can attend on their own with written permission and with safe way home after event.

What you can bring: Yourselves and openness to having some fun.  Bring your water bottles and snacks for yourselves. We will have some light finger snacks as well.   If you want to bring something to share that is welcome as well ( peanut Free please)

We will have all that is needed there and you do not have to be an artist to come.  Though you are also welcome to join us!

Woodland wishes wishlist board

Hello!  Last night we had our budget allocation meeting where teachers provided us with list of things they would like funds for.  It was a nice long list and we were able to support them in most of their request!

Some requests though could be donations instead of purchasing with council funds.

HERE IS WHAT  SCHOOL IS LOOKING FOR

CD PLAYERS – yes those little portable boom-boxes that play CDs.  Teachers have resources to use in their lesson plans but not enough players to go around.  From kinder to grade 8’s.

To donate:  please bring in the CD player in working / decent condition to the office.

BOOKS – The library can always take more books!  Any book from fiction to biography,  reference books to how-to’s.

To donate: If they are in good condition, you can drop them off in the library.
