Pizza Fridays are back! Online ordering will be open from September 14 to 25.

The ever-popular Pizza Fridays, organized by AVPS School Council, will start on October 2nd.

Pizza will be delivered to Alta Vista School every Friday from October 2nd until February
19th, except days when the school is closed (total of 15 Fridays). It will be served to students during the second nutrition break.

Pizza will be from Gabriel’s Pizza. A whole wheat crust will be ordered to comply with nutritional standards set by the school board.

Pizza Fridays are not only a fun lunch alternative enjoyed by both the kids and parents but are a fundraiser for school council.

Slices are $2.50 and you can choose 1) Plain Cheese, 2) Plain Cheese – Gluten Free, 3) Pepperoni, or 4) Vegetarian.

Example: 1 slice/week @ $2.50 for 15 weeks = $37.50 or 2 slice/week @ $2.50 for 15 weeks = $75.00

Payment Procedures: ON-LINE ORDERING WILL BE OPEN FROM SEPTEMBER 14th – 25th.

All ordering will be done on-line with Sagoto Solutions. Sagoto is a local Ottawa company that facilitates on-line program ordering for local schools. This will save the volunteers a lot of time in organizing the school council programs and will also reduce the amount of forms you need to return to school!

All payments in the system are through PayPal and require a credit card.

Annual extracurricular school fees can also be paid online while ordering pizza. School Council will be collecting the annual extracurricular fees and distributing them to the school in consultation with the administration. These voluntary fees go to support special events and in the school and classroom, including dance and theatre presentations as well as science presentations such as those offered by Scientists in the School. These fees replace the voluntary school fees which were previously requested by the school directly.

There will also be a limited amount of pizza to purchase for cash each pizza Friday in the kitchen. It will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

A limited number of subsidies are available. Please call the Principal, Mr. Guido Ronci at 613-733-7124, in confidence, if you would like to be considered for a subsidy.

Contact: Questions and concerns regarding the pizza program should be directed to Alison Millard at 613-608-8077 or avscpizza@gmail.com.

AVPS E-Waste Collection and Clothing Drive – Saturday, June 6

Alta Vista Public School is holding an E-Waste Collection and Clothing Drive Day

Date: Saturday, June 6 – the day of the Awesome Alta Vista Garage Sale
Time: 9:00 – 2:00
Location: Alta Vista Public School, 1349 Randall Ave
Details:

E-WASTE
In partnership with the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES), we will be collecting all types of old electronics. These can be brought to the school parking lot and dropped in our bin. Please note … we are staying open an hour later than the garage sales are scheduled to stay open – so if you are holding a garage sale, and you have some electronics that you were not able to sell, please come and see us to get rid of them.

CLOTHING
OES has also set up a fantastic partnership with the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy (OFCP) for a “Clothes for the Common Good” campaign. OES has a proven record of diverting waste from our landfills, and they have expanded their e-waste collection initiative to include the OFCP’s used clothing program.

FUNDRAISING
And the school gets some fundraising dollars based on the weight of items collected – both e-waste and clothes.

There is so much awesomeness in this collaboration – it is a win-win-win!
