How you can help:

Volunteer your time…
This event is entirely volunteer driven! Approximately 100 volunteers are needed for May 2nd. Sign up for a fun two hour shift and still be able to attend the fair. See the volunteer/donation form for ways to be part of this fantastic event. Forms can be returned to your child’s class, or you can contact Petra at 613-523-9198 or petra.alince at gmail.com to let her know how you’d like to help.

Donate Silent Auction items…
We are looking for MORE donations for our popular Silent Auction.

Are you a business owner?
Your products and or services are what make the auction so great! Your business will be in our Spring Fair flyer; every attendee will get one.

Can you provide a service?
Dog walking, meal preparation, baby sitting…all popular and sought after services. Do you visit a business regularly? Invite them to donate to our school. Gift Certificates welcome! For Auction information contact Marty at (613)521-0123 or martycarr at sympatico.ca

Donate White Elephant items…
Our White Elephant sale is focused on children’s toys, games and books. Please consider donating items such as. toys, CDs, DVDs, trinkets, costume jewelry . No clothes or footwear please. Donation box at the front entrance of the school.

Donate used Books…
This year we would like to limit our books to more recent books, so please no old encyclopedias, text books, or outdated travel guides. Event goers are looking for recipe books, how-to’s, design books & youth books: anything recent, in good shape and taste. Drop your donations off now until May 1st. Donation box at the front entrance of the school.

Grow a plant…
Donate plants like: hostas, day lilies, asters, ground cover, vines, healthy house plants, perennials and colourful annuals. Be sure to label plants with name and colour of flower. Donations can be dropped off Friday, May 1st or Saturday, May 2nd before 10 am. For more info contact Laura Lee at (613) 731-3863 or pippishirley at hotmail.com

Bake some goodies…
Our Bake Sale tables are always filled with delicious home-made pies, muffins, tarts, cookies, breads, cakes and loaves. Jams, preserves, sauces, and other NUT FREE FOOD items gladly accepted. Donate Cakes and Cupcakes…
We need 60+ nut free cakes and many dozens of cupcakes for the ever popular Cake Walk & Cupcake Walk. The more decorations and candy on these the better! The kids love gummy worms and sprinkles. Spring Fair – Saturday, May 2, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm – Volunteers and donations needed!

AVPS Spring Fair planning and preparation is well underway as we quickly move toward the BIG DAY!

This event is completely run by volunteers and WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you can spare some time, items or baking and would like to be part of making the Spring Fair a success, please let us know by completing and submitting the volunteer/donation form that was sent home last week. Forms should be returned to your child’s class by this Friday, April 10.

Friday (March 27) is family movie night.

This month we’re showing Big Hero 6!

Doors open at 5:30 pm and the movie begins at 6:00 pm. There is no charge to attend.

Bring blankets and cushions and even wear your pj’s! Children must be supervised by a parent. Please respect others by being quiet during the movie.

There will be limited quantities of hot dogs, juice and popcorn for sale. Donations of baked goods are always welcome and can be dropped off in the kitchen on movie night.

Hockey and Family Day Festivities at Alta Vista Outdoor Rink – February 14 & 16

Looking for something to do this Saturday and on Family Day? Alta Vista Outdoor Rink is the place to be!

Saturday Feb 14 from 1 to 4 pm – Hockey Day in Canada

Wear a jersey, dress in red for Valentine’s Day or wear a maple leaf.

Large Ice:
1:00-1:30 Team relay race (no sticks) – 3 volunteers needed
1:30-2:00 Team pylon agility race (pucks and stick) – 5 volunteers needed
2:00-2:30 Shoot to win target (25 secs to shoot 12 pucks) – 2 volunteers needed
2:30-3:00 Slap shot radar gun test – 2 volunteers needed
3:00-4:00 Shinny-just a fun game for all to join in

Small Ice:
1:00-2:00 Slap shot speed test – 2 volunteers needed
2:00-3:00 Shoot to win target
3:00-4:00 Pylon obstacle course

Tim Hortons/Rogers Cruiser will be on site from 2 to 4 serving free hot chocolate, coffee and Timbits. We plan to have popcorn for $1.00, hopefully donated home baking, and juice.

Monday February 16 from 4 to 8pm – Family Day

Large Ice: fun games of broomball, ringette and shinny
Small Ice: tug-of-war and cupcake walk
Park: bonfire with marshmallow roasting, bbq’d hot dogs, hot drinks

Donations and Volunteering

Volunteers are needed on both days to help with things such as time-keeping, popcorn making, set-up, clean-up, etc. We are also looking for donations of fireplace sized logs for the fire and donations of baked goods to share.
